How Korean groups numbers
English groups digits by three (thousand, million, billion), but Korean groups them by four. 10,000 is 만 (man), 100,000,000 is 억 (eok) and a trillion is 조 (jo). So 120,000 is 십이만, "twelve man", not "one hundred twenty thousand".
| Number | Korean |
|---|---|
| 10,000 | 만 (man) |
| 1,000,000 | 백만 (baengman) |
| 100,000,000 | 일억 (il-eok) |
| 1,000,000,000,000 | 일조 (il-jo) |
The converter uses Sino-Korean numbers, which are the ones used for money and dates.
